Tamara Lowe: Mindset of the Ultra-Successful

I think the main thing, Steve, that takes people out from their calling, honestly, it's not their lack of talent. It's not their lack of drive. It's not even spiritual warfare. It's not demonic opposition. It's not crisis in their lives. They disqualify themselves. Did you know that Kingdom Builders sometimes have fears, just like everybody else, just like constant brooters? But instead of sitting on their eggs, instead of sitting on their fears and meditating on it and projecting evil into your future, they defy their fears. Kingdom Builders have doubts, but they doubt their doubts.

Steve K.

Another episode of Wealth Transfer TV. Today, I've got a person here who is a success strategist to superstars. That's not an exaggeration by any stretch of the imagination. She's worked with George Bush, George Forman, Dr. Billy Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Margaret Thatcher, Terry Bradshaw, Eli Manning, Mother Teresa, Mary Lurey, and myself, just to name a few. Her name is Tamara Lowe. She's a New York Times bestselling author. I want to say you're my friend, but you're more than that. You're really like my older sister. I love you very much. What you guys don't know is the last time I saw Tamara in person was I think about a year ago. You were here in Amsterdam, and she inspired a lot of what is happening right now in the Cast Your Nets community, a lot of the programs that we have. It wasn't like an idea she had. She's a type of person that when you get around this woman, you are automatically inspired and you want to take yourself to another level. She has this magic. We don't believe in magic, but she's got this charisma, this thing, this it, that just inspires people, inspired me. I was very happy doing nothing, at least I thought I was. I spent just a couple of hours with her, and it changed my life. Welcome, Tamara Lowe.

Tamara Lowe

Thank you. That's very kind of you. I'm happy to return the favor, Steve, because when we met, I was really very much at a crisis point in my life. I think we met about 13 or 14 years ago, and I had just come through a very brutal, grueling divorce at a three year divorce after a 23 year marriage that I never expected. And I had spent 30 years building a very successful business, $100 million a year business. And when that happened, I lost everything. I lost my business, my reputation, my ministry, my family, my marriage, and I just about lost my mind. I didn't lose my relationship with the Lord, and I didn't lose what I know. Those are two things that can't be taken away from you. But I didn't know what I didn't know. God called me to equip emerging Christian leaders as I looked to the Lord in prayer because I had no idea how I was going to pay my bills. And I went from living in this 30,000 square foot mansion to not knowing how I was going to keep the lights on. And I don't know how I encountered you, actually.

Tamara Lowe

I don't even know. I don't remember. But I remember talking to you, and I remember you saying that you had my book on your desk and that you had thought when you got this book years ago that I could really promote this woman. And I didn't know the online marketing space at all, zero percent. If it were not for my encounter with you and us working together for a time, I probably wouldn't be doing what I'm doing, at least not as well as I'm doing it.

Steve K.

Wow! Thank you for your kind words because I know how many people you've influenced. I know how many people you are still influencing. The thought that what we did over a decade ago together, I have a small part in that influence and making people's lives better is unbelievable to me. It's why I'm doing what I'm doing now.

Tamara Lowe

Well, you know what's really more mind-blowing is that, this will blow your mind, is that you have spiritual grandchildren and great-grandchildren that you don't even know about because the people that I have trained have gone on to start their own coaching programs, online courses, their influencers, they're podcasters. They have their own group of people that they're ministering to. And now there's like a third and fourth generation rising up that all of that is credited to your account in eternity and my account too. Even though we have never met these people, but because of the things that we've done, it's had a ripple effect over the last decade and will into eternity.

Steve K.

And that's where I'm going. That is mind-blowing. What's also mind-blowing is the thought that there could be someone listening right now that can take what you're going to disclose, the secrets you're going to unveil, because they're secrets. They're little things that these superstars do that you and I know about that sets them apart from everybody else. It's not because they're better looking. It's not because they're younger or older, it's because they implement these strategies that you're about to disclose. Let's talk about the mindset of a superstar and what does it take to reach these levels of success?

Tamara Lowe

I think the main thing, Steve, that takes people out from their calling, honestly, it's not their lack of talent, it's not their lack of drive. It's not even spiritual warfare. It's not demonic opposition. It's not crisis in their lives. They disqualify themselves. By and large, people disqualify themselves. And that's, I guess, human nature because we look to the great leaders of Scripture. We see Moses said, I can't do it, I'm afraid. I'm not a good talker. Are you somebody else? Gideon said, I'm no mighty man of valor. Who are you talking to? You look at these great heroes of the faith, and there are plenty of them that we could reference, but they all had started with a mindset problem, fear, disbelief, and doubt. But the choice of whether you are going to be a kingdom builder or you are going to be a constant brooder is your own choice. You have the choice whether you're going to be a constant brooder or a Kingdom Builder, okay? So now I'm going back to my preschool days, okay? I was a preschool teacher, and I haven't done this in decades, but I made some flashcards. Steve, I just moved to the mountains and you're a farmer, so you probably know about this.

Tamara Lowe

But I was talking to a farmer in Colorado and he said he was having some problems with some of his hens. He called them constant brooders. He said the thing about them is that they will not get off their eggs. Unless the farmer intervenes, they will literally kill themselves because they won't move off their eggs, they won't move to eat or drink, and they will overheat their eggs and kill their eggs. When I heard that, I thought, Dear God, so many Christians are like that. They're constant brooders. What if this happens? What if I fail? What if I lose money? What if my friends criticize me? What if I can't? And they sit there and they sit there and they sit there until they literally kill their own dreams. And they go to the grave with unwritten books, with unhatched ministries, with unstarted businesses, with unfulfilled potential. But there is a choice. You do have a choice. You don't have to be a constant brooter. You can be a Kingdom Builder. You can be a Kingdom builder. Sure, it's your choice. And Kingdom Builders face the same opposition as everybody else does. Kingdom builders, did you know that Kingdom builders sometimes have fears?

Tamara Lowe

Just like everybody else, just like constant brooders. But instead of sitting on their eggs, instead of sitting on their fears and meditating on it and projecting evil into your future, because that's what fear and worry is, it's projecting evil into your future, they defy their fears. They have doubts. Kingdom Builders have doubts, but they doubt their doubts. Do you know you don't have to believe everything that comes into your mind? You don't. You can doubt your doubts. Kingdom Builders have oppositions, but they overcome them. They have critics, but they ignore them. They have financial challenges, but they bust through them. Kingdom Builders will not stay stuck. They do not give up. The cool thing is it's your choice how you're going to be. You know how easy it is to turn over a new leaf, Steve? How easy it is to turn over a new leaf to make a good decision? It's that easy. It's not easy. Just turn over a new leaf. It's easy. It doesn't take long. You can make a good decision in a snap.

Steve K.

This is a very powerful key you're giving because we should all feel very empowered in that we have a choice.

Tamara Lowe

Yeah.

Steve K.

Our list of the situation, we have a choice. We have a choice on what to believe and what not to believe. We have a choice. Actually, we have a choice when to turn over the new leaves. So how long do you want to stay in the condition you're in? It's your choice.

Tamara Lowe

That's correct.That's correct.

Steve K.

That's incredibly empowering.

Tamara Lowe

I find that it really, at least for my students, I have 700 students right now, and I've trained thousands and thousands of Christian leaders over the past 10 years on how to become best selling authors, big stage speakers, high ticket coaches, influencers who shape the culture for Christ, almost all of them, no matter how talented, how charismatic, how gifted they are, no matter how big the call of God on their lives are, most of them come into my program needing to have a mindset shift because there is really a crazy belief in Christianity that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world, anywhere else, any other nation, any other religion. Nobody has a problem with making money except for Christians. Only Christians. It's okay if you're spiritual, but if you're really, really spiritual, you should live under a bridge. You should be in a van down by the river. You should have nothing. And that's not scriptural. The whole counsel of God does not bear that out at all. The Bible says that God gives us the power to create wealth. I wish above all things that you would prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prosperes.

Tamara Lowe

The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich and adds no sorrow to it. I could go on and on because I know the scriptures. But the scriptures say that being financially blessed is good. The parable of the talents that Jesus taught. The key concept that most people miss is that it is commendable to be a money multiplier. It is commendable. God commended the two that multiplied their money, and He called the one who hid and hoarded, a wicked and lazy servant. You know what I think it's very… I've heard this preached from the pulpit for decades, but I've never heard preachers talk about this. You know what... Those two that were commended for being a money multiplier, you know what they had to do in order to multiply the money? This will blow your mind. They had to let go of it. What? They could have lost the money, but they let go of it. You know the one that was called the Wicked and lazy servant, it wasn't because he lost the money. It was because he did nothing. He did nothing with the money except dig in the dirt and get dirty and get sweaty. That's all they did.

Steve K.

Kind of just like putting your money in the bank instead of making it work for you?

Tamara Lowe

Right. At least you could have done that. At least you could have done that. What I find with my students is that they have to have a mindset shift from a poverty mindset to an abundance mindset. Here's what a poverty mindset says. A poverty mindset says, I can't afford it. Now, let me tell you that 90% of the people who are in my program, and I'm not cheap to work with, okay? I'm expensive to work with, but people get a return on investment almost immediately within 90 days that makes it worth it to work with me and then the skills that they learn, it's like with you, Steve, I learned things from you that I'm using now 12 years later and will use 20 years from now, God willing. Because the things that you learn, you continue to use. 90% of the people in my program come into my program saying, I can't afford it. I can't afford it. You taught me, Steve, that buyers are liars. Buyers are liars. I don't believe it when they say that. I say, Either you're a kingdom builder or you're not. Either you're going to be a constant brooder and you're going to be stuck on, Oh, I can't afford it, or you're going to be a kingdom builder and you're going to say this.

Tamara Lowe

You're to say, How can I afford it? How can I afford it? Because that's the difference between a poverty mindset and an abundance mindset. So that thought can come into your mind, I can't afford it. But if you're a kingdom builder, you will retrain your brain to regain the same, and you will say, How can I afford it? How can I afford it? A poverty mindset says, I can't do it. I don't know how. An abundance mindset says, I can do it. I'll learn how. Skills are learnable. I can learn new skills. A poverty mindset says, I'm afraid I'll fail. An abundance mindset says, When I'm afraid, I will trust in God and will not fear. You are with me. I will fear no evil. Right? See, a poverty mindset says, So many people out there are doing it. Why would anybody listen to me? But an abundance mindset says, So many people are doing it. That's a good clue that it must be working. I have wisdom. People are paying idiots and fools. Why wouldn't they listen to me? A poverty mindset says, My friends and family might criticize me, but an abundance mindset says, You know what? My real friends are going to encourage me and the ones who criticize me, they can either stay stuck or they can come up to a new level with me. It's your choice how you think. There's so much in this life that we can't control, but we can control what's between our two ears. We absolutely can.

Steve K.

Friends, this is extremely powerful. I will tell you firsthand from all the people that we've coached also, the mindset, the way you phrase the question or the statement, if it goes, instead of saying, I can't afford it to, How can I afford it? Your mind and your body will automatically shift to create evidence for whichever statement you just made. If you say, I can't afford it, you will be flooded with things that will support that lie. Whereas if you say, How can I afford it? Ideas start coming in and you start seeing ways that you can actually afford this. And it's amazing how that one little thing, you said that little thing that's the difference between superstars and the normal person, it's the way they frame the question. How can I do that? How can I get it done? And then it's amazing how everything just starts supporting that. So very, very powerful. Other tips?

Tamara Lowe

I'll tell you another story. I'll tell you a story. This is a story I heard from T.D. Jakes, and I thought this is so powerful and liberating for setting people free. Because you know what the devil does 24/7, 365, is he is hell bent on keeping you down. He is hell bent on shutting you up, on muting your influence, on keeping you suppressed, on limiting your ability to do anything by destroying your confidence. So that's what the enemy does. And any time that we agree with the enemy, we're making a pact with hell. That's what we're doing. Any time that we give in to fear, you know what that is, Steve? When you give in to fear, because everybody has fears, but if you agree with it and you bow your knee to it, that's idol worship. That's not worshiping God. That's idolatry, because, see, fear is a false God. Fear is trying to tell you what to do. Fear is saying, do this and don't do that. And if you obey it, you're not obeying God. God's telling you to do one thing, fear is telling you to do another. And if you bow down or you back down to your fears, you're obeying the devil.

Tamara Lowe

That's shocking, isn't it? But we don't think about that, but that is actually what it is, and it's sin. The Bible says whatever doesn't come from faith is sin. So it's sinful to obey your fears. Can I tell you something else? It's stupid to listen to your critics. It is. It's stupid to listen to your critics. Some people think, Well, I'm going to play it safe by avoiding risk. That's not playing it safe. That's playing it stupid. It's playing it stupid because if you refuse to take a risk, there is a hundred percent chance that you're not going to do the things that God has put in your heart to do. A hundred percent chance. So that is foolish, right? If you take a risk and anything great that you want to do is going to require that you take a risk, well, there's a percentage of a chance that you'll fail. There's a percentage of a chance. But if you refuse to take a risk, there's a 100 % chance that you'll fail, right? Let me ask you this. Have you ever let other people influence important decisions in your life? Have you ever worried about what others might think?

Tamara Lowe

I heard the story from T.D. Jakes, and I thought, Wow, this is so powerful. People will really get a hold of this, it will absolutely change your mindset about that. So this is a story about turtles, turtles and giraffes, turtles and giraffes. Now, did you know that turtles and giraffes can occupy the same space geographically? They can be in the same space just like a couple of feet apart, right? But they have a different worldview. You see, turtles just move through the grass, but giraffes eat from the tops of the trees. And this is what happens to all of us, to all people, is that we eat on the level of our vision. I'm going to say that again. We eat on the level of our vision. Now, how many of you have had people giving you advice who were not on your level? They just were not on your level. And their advice was well intended, but it didn't help you. Instead, it was holding you back. And if you understand this, you won't be moved by what they say. It's not that sometimes what they say isn't true because maybe they knew things about you in the past or behaviors about you in the past, but they don't necessarily understand who you are.

Tamara Lowe

And their poor understanding of who you are will incarcerate you to who you were. I'm going to say that again. Their poor understanding of who you used to be will incarcerate you there because they will keep dragging you back to your lowest level self instead of advancing you to your highest self. Now, I've lost opportunities because I listen to the murmur of the turtles. Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever lost opportunities because you listen to them? Well, I love this metaphor. I love this metaphor of the giraffe because the giraffe, did you know, has a 25-pound heart and he needs it to pump the blood all the way up his nine-foot neck so that his head can stay high. Now, listen to this. Check it out. If the giraffe lowers himself to listen to the turtle, you know what happens, Steve? He passes out. He blacks out. He loses consciousness. He loses consciousness. Yes. Here's the thing, is if you lower your perspective, you will endanger your position. If you lower your perspective, you'll endanger your position. Because when you are built to be tall, when you are built to be tall, lowering down, because that's what...

Tamara Lowe

The turtle can't reach up to the giraffe. Giraffe has to lower himself down to listen to the turtle. Here's the thing. You might have had people say to you, and listen, there's nothing wrong with the turtle. The turtle is just giving an honest report from his worldview, from his perspective. But when you have people saying, Hey, if I were you, I wouldn't do this. I wouldn't do that. They're not on your level. Stay on your level. That's not you. You can't allow people who have turtle vision to control your eyesight up at the giraffe level. They're not wrong. They're just reporting on their level. But since the turtle cannot reach up, the only way for you to listen to that is to lower your perspective and it'll take you out. It'll take you out every time. That's powerful, isn't it?

Steve K.

This has all been very, very powerful. I love that she's giving away for free in a book. Guys, by all means, please, do you have space for students?

Tamara Lowe

Well, I'll tell you something new. I'll give you a little news flash that not many people know about. I am taking in my very last group of students. So InterCircle has been going on now for 12 years, and it will continue. Okay, so we just took in 100 new students. We'll probably take in another 200 before the end of the year. But beginning in 2024, I'm going to be working exclusively with students at the graduate level, and my program is being offered as an MBA. So we're doing something really cool, which is that we're going to offer a two year MBA, which also includes a ministry degree and a coaching certification. The curriculum, see, I have five degrees. I'm a Bible nerd. I have five theological degrees. I can tell you from my experience that higher education needs a shake-up. Higher education needs a little disruption, so we're going to bring it. Okay? Just one of my degrees, Steve, just one of my degrees, it took me seven years to get two-thirds of the way through it. Seven years into it, I was only two-thirds of the way through it, my first master's degree, and I had already spent $100,000.

Tamara Lowe

And if I can add a third thing is that a lot of it was boring. It was boring. I literally taught myself how to crotchet so that I would have something to do in class. I brought my yarn, I brought my crotchet needle. So I just thought, if I ever have the opportunity, and now I do, because the curriculum that we've created over the past 12 years has been approved as an accredited MBA program. So beginning next year, it'll be twice as much to work with me because we'll be doing it at a graduate degree level.

Steve K.

Great. So if you're watching a replay, click that link below and you're going to apply to work with Tamara of the last class, the last class friends. And no matter what, click the link and get your free book you're going to be taken to onpurposebook.com, and you're going to learn how to find, fund and fulfill your purpose. Tamara, thank you so much for taking the time and giving us… I mean, this is like… Friends, I know. So all this stuff that she just uploaded, we would give in one of the one-on-one courses, the coaching courses that we sold many, many years ago. Thank you so much.

Tamara Lowe

Thank you, Steve. You're welcome. Roger, as always.

Steve K.

Your next course will be how to look like you're 30 when you're however old you are.

Tamara Lowe

I just turned 60.

Steve K.

You look fantastic. The thing with the gold in your hair, it looks really amazing.

Tamara Lowe

Thank you. That's very kind you. I'm fighting at tooth and nail, but I keep threatening to go gray. I told my son. I said, At 63, that's it. Get ready because I'm going all-silver.

Steve K.

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. You're the best. Thank you so much.

Tamara Lowe

Love you, Steve. Bye now.

Steve K.

Bye.
